The House of Eden

The House of Eden – A one-stop shop for one-size clothing, accessories, gifts and home.

The House of Eden was set up in 2020 by Louisa McLean after years of negative shopping experiences where clothes sizes would vary so much from brand to brand and she would often end up feeling disheartened about herself. To take away the issue of sizing, The House of Eden only stocks one-size clothing.

Alongside the one-size clothing, you will also find a wide range of accessories, home/giftware, fragrances (both for you and your home), stationery, and greetings cards. As well as being available online, The House of Eden also has a little boutique in Newton Aycliffe and a quirky little mobile store, a converted horsebox, affectionately called Hettie, that tours the North-East of England at various events, shows, markets and fundraisers.

As a small, independent retailer, we really appreciate our customers and always put them first, striving to deliver a fast, reliable, and enjoyable shopping experience.

We’re also very active on social media, so be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages where you can get to see behind-the-scenes pictures, enter competitions and giveaways, and find out where you can visit us at our next event.

The Face Behind The Business

Louisa McLean

Hi, I’m Louisa, owner of The House of Eden!

I set up my little store in 2020 after becoming increasingly frustrated with clothes shopping experiences. I would go into a store thinking I was one size except the clothes wouldn’t fit, not even nearly fit! I would end up feeling really disheartened and I figured I couldn’t be the only one, so The House of Eden was born. I wanted it to be a little sanctuary for people where they could come and shop and not worry about the sizing as everything would be one-size only. Therefore I could create a happy, stress-free clothes shopping experience for my customers.

And because I love accessories (a girl can never have too many bags or scarves, right?!), pretty bits and pieces for my home and home fragrances (I don’t want to think about the number of candles I’ve bought over the years!), I wanted to complement the clothing range with these items. I even have a range of greetings cards so that everything can be bought in one place when someone’s shopping for a present for a loved one.

I am a multi-channel outlet, I have my website, a little boutique in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, and I also have a quirky little ‘shop on wheels’ – a converted 3.5T horsebox called Hettie who I will be taking out to festivals, events, markets and fundraisers across the North-East of England!
