Hello from the remote island of Auskerry in Orkney! My partner Simon and I have farmed the island for over 40 years building up our flock of endangered native Orkney sheep, the North Ronaldsay. The breed have two unique characteristics; a love of eating seaweed, and their amazing fleeces which camouflage them against the rocks.
I have always loved wool since being taught to spin and weave at school. It seemed natural to design our own exclusive range of products made from the beautifully coloured and soft fleeces of our sheep, and so the brand of ‘Isle of Auskerry’ was born.
Many of our products are made on Auskerry itself, making the carbon footprint as small as possible. By buying our products you are also helping us to conserve this extraordinary breed of sheep for future generations.
