It is amazing isn’t it? The little snippets of wisdom that stick in your head. Little bits of peoples advice that help you every day, often without you realising or acknowledging it.
Every day we are bombarded with advice, information and guidance. But how much actually sticks and how much serves us throughout our lives?
Words of wisdom that apply frequently in my day to day life. Do they resonate with you?
Will it? This is especially good for little annoyances. When you get rubbish customer service, a car pulls out in front of you, you burn the biscuits. Ask yourself “will it matter tomorrow?” 99% of the time the answer is no. Really puts things into perspective.
Things are normally ex for a reason. Ex boyfriend, ex friend, ex job, ex unhealthy lifestyle etc. If you are ever tempted to go back, just remember why they are ex first and give it a great deal of consideration before heading in the backwards direction.
I love this one, it has so many connotations. Such as don’t worry what others are doing, don’t compare yourself, never give up, have faith, and create your own life(race).
My dad has been saying this to me for years. As an entrepreneur for most of his life this was inbuilt into his mindset and he shared it with us regularly when a door closed or was about to be. He was right, so far it has been true. Sometimes you have to be very brave to close that door. And sometimes you have to look hard for the door to open.
I have always worked very hard. Putting in far too many hours. Between the age of 18 and 22 I was studying for my professional exams and my sister would always say “it will be worth it in the end”. This has been with me always and is now on my wall. She was right but I won’t tell her that!
I heard this one about a year ago on a TED talk. Fab one for confidence. Use it, it works. Plus I think a lot of people are doing this, if not everyone.
I have been using this one since having children. Our lives are busy. There is always overwhelm, busyness, madness and most of the time complete chaos. I imagine it is the same with you too, whether you have children or not. Asking yourself this on particularly hectic days (pretty much most days then) helps you to focus just on today, what needs to be done today and enjoy today. Tomorrow will soon become today and you can focus on it then.
This one makes my imagination go wild. What we choose to do now, right now, impacts on the rest of our lives. I find that astounding, scary, exciting and mind blowing. It is like the
Anthony Robbins quote “Your destiny is determined by the choices you make, choose now, choose well.”
I first heard this a few years ago. I say it all the time, it is so true. If you believe you can do it you are halfway there.
My university lecturer told me this many (far too many!) years ago. I always act as if I know nothing (which worryingly is pretty easy) and I learn so much more. Plus, I often find myself observing how I behave with people who act as though they know it all. I tell them very little. I am clueless as to how they learn anything.
This is such a difficult one to live by. I struggle with it. I really wish I could master this one. I keep reminding myself of it and maybe when I am old and wise I will be able to live by it every day.
If someone is mean, rude or treats me badly in some way. It will back fire on them somewhere in their lives, that allows me to move on from it and not to dwell. Forgive and forget. I have absolutely no idea if this is true but it makes me feel better!
This helps when you are up against a challenge. If others can do it then it must be achievable…..right? Well maybe not the high jump.
This is saving the best until last. If more people lived by this imagine how amazing this world would be.
