Sharing the very best in independent shops online

How We Can All Join in With I Pledge to Shop Independent – #ipledgeindie

I pledge to shop independent is a movement, a campaign sharing our pride at shopping with small independents.

Inspiring everyone to shop at independent shops more.  Whether the shop is online, has a physical store or pops up at the monthly market.

You can see more about it here All About I Pledge to Shop Independent – The Movement.

Choosing to shop at independent shops is something to be proud of.  Like becoming more eco or eating healthily or getting out in nature or running a 10k.  They all have so many positives.  Inspiring others and encouraging them to do the same is a good thing for everyone.

There are lots of ways to join in, whether you are a shopper or a shop.  The movement is for all of us to come together in choosing to shop independent every single day.

HOW TO JOIN IN WITH #IPLEDGEINDIE

AS A SHOPPER

  • Proudly share where you shop and what you buy.  Use the hash tag #ipledgeindie on all that you share on Instagram and Facebook.  If you want to make sure I see what you are sharing tag me in using @loveourshopsuk.
  • Join the Facebook Group I Pledge to Shop Independent, created for sharing where we shop and what we buy.  So we can find independent shops easier and be inspired by where others are shopping.  A great place to get help finding independent shops you need.  Like pet food for instance.  I spent hours trying to find an independent shop online that sells decent, but affordable dog food!!

For inspiration and help with finding independent shops online use my shopping directory Love Our Shops UK. and see what I share on my blog.  Follow me on Instagram.  Follow me on Facebook.

Then for more inspiration and to find lots of lovely shops and their products, and to see all that is going on with the #ipledgeindie movement, sign up to my regular newsletter.  It is a lovely update.

AS A SHOP

Joining in is easy and takes very little time and effort (win win!!).  Head over to the Facebook Group created for independent shops and you will find all the information.

Or read this blog post  Independent Shops – Join the #ipledgeindie Campaign

Remember you are a shopper, so you can share and join in with the above suggestions for shoppers too.

The basics for joining in as a shop are:

  • There is a launch week, but don’t worry if you miss it you can still join in as this is an ongoing movement.
  • Weekly Wednesday sharing – Indie Wednesdays.  The focus of which is around getting shoppers to share where they shop and to move people to shop at independents more.  Do every Wednesday or do some of them!!  Up to you.
  • Finally, simply use the #ipledgeindie tag whenever you post something that will inspire shoppers to shop more independent.  Tag me in too if you want me to see it @loveourshopsuk.

Whether you are an independent shop with a physical store or online, we can all join together and create this movement of I Pledge to Shop Independent shoppers.

To make a difference and create a movement we need to come together to share and inspire, #ipledgeindie.

With us all doing our bit in sharing the word, getting lots of shops involved and encouraging shoppers to proudly share, this campaign will be amazing.  It will create the movement we all will benefit from, both as a shopper and as a shop.

HOW TO SHOP AT INDEPENDENTS

There are 2 key ways to directly shop with independents.  Either by visiting their physical shop or stand at an event.  Or virtually, by shopping with them online on their website or via their catalogue.  Both ways are good, have the same benefits and contribute to our local economies.

WHY I SHOP AT INDEPENDENT SHOPS

As a shopper, I love the shopping experience with independent shop’s and I love that my hard earned money stays in the UK economy.  I love the knowledge they share and that they go the extra mile to make sure I am happy with my purchase.  I love their creativity and uniqueness.  I love their passion.  I love that they treat me like a real person and take care of me and my order.  I love buying from a real person who I know has put a lot of thought, love and effort into their shop.

There are so many benefits of choosing to shop independent see Why Shopping with Independents is a Good Thing.

CHOOSE INDEPENDENT EVERY SINGLE DAY

So many people love independent shops and are pledging to shop independent.  Be proud of this choice.  It is a very wise one.

Independent shops are so much better than the big corporate high street chains or the massive online shops and marketplaces.  That is why we choose to shop indie every day.

I want more and more independent shops to open up.  I want to find all these wonderful shops so I can move more of my everyday purchases to them.

Join me in this, it is such an inspiring and exciting movement to be part of.
