I have an inspiring interview for you with Robert, the founder of Savegre. He tells us all about how it began, what he did before starting his skincare brand and where he is taking it next.
I always love it when a business begins with the founder unable to find what they are looking for, so they decide to create it themselves.
Robert has a brilliant business story which all began on holiday. The best place to start I think!
I will let Robert share his business story, it is very inspiring.
Savegre is a skincare company powered by the rainforests of Costa Rica. We produce a detoxifying clay face mask powder.
Our clay is a Rainforest Blue Clay powder which is made of just one ingredient, the rainforest blue clay. It is 100% natural, organic and contains no artificial ingredients.
The Rainforest Blue Clay is hand-harvested from a very remote location deep in the Costa Rican rainforest. It is carried by hand, down a mountain for over an hour, cleaned and silted with fresh Costa Rican spring water. Each product is then individually hand-processed and hand-packaged.
The Savegre facemask contains very fine dry ‘blue clay’ powder, that when mixed with water, turns into a creamy paste for application. It can be used as a face mask, body mask or spot treatment. Our detoxifying clay mask removes blackheads, reduces blemishes, rejuvenates and extracts toxins from the skin all in just 10 minutes.
The creation of Savegre started on my trip to Costa Rica back in 2017, when I came across rainforest blue clay.
After experiencing this blue clay face mask, I was determined to find something natural and as powerful back home in London. But after much research I found nothing that came close to the experience I gave my skin in Costa Rica. I decided that I wanted to share the benefits of this rainforest blue clay with others, to improve their skin’s health.
My vision was to bring a purely 100% natural (no added junk) face mask to the UK market. So, I set up Savegre in 2020.
My working life has been in marketing for various sized businesses. This has given me a good grounding in being able to set up a business.
I studied entrepreneurship at university and have set up a few ventures in the past, so I didn’t find it daunting. The whole experience excited me and allowed me to go full tilt into it.
I am lucky as I have a home office and a small office, so I get to spend most of my time in my home office at the moment.
What plans and ideas do you have for the future of Savegre?
Plans are to grow our reach by getting stocked in more mainstream retail stores across the UK and the rest of the world.
We are also working on a lip scrub and soap bar, which we hope will come out in 2022.
Best thing about running my own business is getting to work from home and being able to plan my schedule around my family, which is the most important part of my life.
Proudest moment would have to be when I received my first order in, I could not stop smiling all day. That moment proved to me that all the hard work I had put in over the past year was all worth it and with that first order, my business became real.
Thank you so much to Robert for sharing his business journey. I love it and find it very inspiring to hear what is possible when you are passionate and really believe in your product. He has come a long way in such a short space of time.
Robert has created a beautiful product and I am really excited to see his new products coming next year. Lots of work to do before then but I am sure it will be worth it.
Happy browsing and shopping.
Barbara
