I am pulling together a location specific blog series of Favourite Finds, sharing independent shops based in particular areas. This way we can all support our local economies from the internet. In our pyjamas, with a gin, no need to even leave the house.
But don’t feel as though you need to keep it to your own area. Wherever you shop independent, you can be safe in the knowledge you are supporting the British economy, so important in today’s world.
To launch this new series I am starting with my local: Shropshire. A place with beautiful countryside and amazingly creative shop keepers. I have some wonderful shops to share with you.
This gorgeous jewellery shop is run by founder and jewellery designer maker Penny. Penny started her business in Bristol but has since upped sticks and moved to the countryside, Shropshire. In her studio Penny creates beautiful pieces out of different materials including gold, brass, silver, resin, and rattan. All unique and all so lovely.
Who doesn’t love stationery? With so much choice, I am always on the look out for something a little bit different. Artcadia are a letterpress stationery shop and design studio who make the most creative designs. They offer a full range of stationery, which include classic typography and hand drawn illustrations, all on the most gorgeous paper. If you are a paper lover be warned….irresistible!! Artcadia create correspondence cards, greetings cards, gift wraps, art prints, and beautiful wedding invitations and wedding stationery.
This great shops sells lots of different things. A fabulous online lifestyle store selling bath & body products, accessories, gifts, and home decor. Such a lovely collection. Bethan started 47 Things only recently and her vision is to bring together products designed and made here in the UK. To add to this, she also includes products made by amazingly talented artisans from overseas. A beautiful shop and well worth a look.
Anne Reeves refers to jewellery as “a wearable art”, this is so true of her jewellery. Such a special collection. So right for so many different people and so many different occasions. I love that the pieces can relate to the wearer with so many different designs and charms. The jewellery is made in solid silver, distinctive, wearable and incorporates lots of exciting textures and effects. With each piece you can see Anne’s love for animals, nature, romance and life. Made with traditional silver smithing techniques it is jewellery to treasure.
What a great name for a shop! A family run business based in the world heritage site of Ironbridge. Moonshine and Fuggles sell a fantastic range of alcoholic beverages. Their product choice is amazing and comes about because they know what they are talking about, their knowledge is extensive. Their range includes gin, real ale, malt whisky, artisan spirits, cider and wine. They say that if you are looking for something special or rare they will be able to find it for you! I had absolutely no idea there was such a huge offering of drinks until I looked at this shop. Be amazed!
What an unusual and great little shop this is. The philosophy behind the shop is seeing beauty in every day things. They stock items that are well made, well designed and well priced. Some of them are new and some are old, all are made designed and made with care. They sell items for the home, gifts and a wonderful watch range. Black Bough began in 2011 by Adam and Alex whose backgrounds are well worth a read on their about us page. Such a unique shop in the lovely town of Ludlow, so pleased I found it.

Please be aware. All opinions in this blog post are mine. At the time of writing I have not received any payment or free samples from the shops mentioned apart from PFK Wellbeing who sent me a sample selection of their candles. Though I mention lots of shops here, you must form your own opinion as to whether their products are for you.
I aim to include only independently owned shops. Sometimes it is tricky to work out if they are. So, as far as I can tell, they are independently owned, but apologies if the odd one that is not slips into my blog post….they hide it well!
